NEW!!! The Application of Mission Design Theory to Post 9/11 Security Issues!
Preview The Book! Contained
in the atmosphere that surrounds us is a perpetually unfolding, living panorama
of premeditated, pre-staged actions that together create reality in chaotic
unison. Serving as the foundation
of this magnificent process is a relatively simple but profound system through
which concepts are converted to reality. ZEN
and Applications of MISSION DESIGN
discusses that system and its associated theory through narratives based on case
studies conducted by the Drs. Jan and Roger Griebe.
At the base of this discussion is a highly refined theory.
Called The Theory of Missions™,
it puts forth the idea that intent based systems, what we call missions or
mission systems, serve as the bases for the execution and transformation of this
reality. Every activity we
undertake, large or small, is subject to the rules of The Theory of Missions™.
In the book, ZEN
and Applications of MISSION DESIGN, philosophy, theory, and application are
interwoven to create metaphors designed to leave behind a message that readers
will understand and be able to effectively apply to their lives. Consisting
of twenty-one chapters, the book guides the readers through processes and tools
used to effectively analyze, diagnosis, and design mission systems.
Each chapter presents a challenge that the book's primary characters must
solve. Steps taken to solve
challenges provide a forum through which a discussion of philosophy, theory, and
application ensue. In the process
of revealing solutions to complex issues, stories are told of two characters
who, with the exception of their family and a few close friends, live a solitary
life, outside the mainstream structures of the missions to which their services
are applied. Underlying
theory and dynamics associated with the manifestation and execution of missions
of all types are discussed through practical applications cast in reality-based
settings. Each chapter is designed
to provide the reader an opportunity to vicariously experience learning
objectives most appropriate for him at that time.
As a result of this reading experience, readers will develop a deeper
understanding of the naturally occurring dynamics associated with how work, and
the reality that supports it, is perceived, how it is executed, and the dynamic
structure it requires to be successful. Practical
solutions to difficult issues provide the backdrop for mission definition,
design, planning, and execution activities.
Readers are provided an introduction to each assignment and guided
through the resolution of each case. In
the process, dynamics, tools, techniques, and applications are discussed in an
entertaining and enlightening manner. While
the stories themselves present a novel reading experience in the world of large
national level missions, they also communicate experiences that readers can
readily apply. The book is written
so that it draws on the reader’s natural ability to create visual, auditory,
and sensory input, thus reinforcing the reader's overall learning experience.
We believe that ZEN
and Applications of MISSION DESIGN provides a unique and extremely
valuable approach to learning as well as excellent instruction in the mission
design process and its underlying theory. ZEN
and Applications of MISSION DESIGN is a 'must read' for all
professionals. A fundamental
knowledge of the mission theory will soon be a requirement for businesses
serious about profitability, growth, and market leadership.
