Analyses, diagnostics, and assessments are needed to assess missions of all sizes and types.  Even though the nature and conditions under which issues exist affect the type of analyses needed, OAC has found that most analyses, diagnostics, or assessments can be adequately addressed using the tools and techniques contained in each of the following products.

Market Studies and Analyses – Catalog # ADA1

This analysis pertains to external market conditions.  It can include the following:  pricing the availability and degree of competition for similar services, products and technology, the availability of external resources, the implications of regulation, codes and standards, services and technologies, the level of political support for an effort and the condition of the overall external system needed to support the venture.

Market Study Chart #1

Assessing external conditions is imperative in times when markets are changing.  OAC offers an overall assessment of external conditions that includes reviews of current laws, trends, pricing, competition, technology, social concerns, and other factors.

Strategy Adjustments – Catalog # ADA2

Management is counseled once the values of both the positive and negative aspects of the market have been assessed.  This includes:

  • Facilitating the conversion of market findings into corporate strategies.

  • Analyzing macro strategies.

  • Assisting in identification of new strategies.

  • Assisting in development of a strategic plan.

Analysis of Mission Continuity – Catalog # ADA3

This analysis is used to determine the degree of congruency within the mission system.  It first looks at the functional definition of the mission to determine if missions associated with each component have been properly defined and documented.  Next, it reviews the behavior of each component to determine whether or not it is behaving in a manner that is congruent with the successful execution of the mission.  This analysis captures subtle dynamics that can over the long run destroy the mission by creating outcomes as an adjustment to conditions rather than as a direct consequence of pursuing the mission.

This process identifies weaknesses in the execution of the mission at the philosophical and strategic levels.  It explores the mission's design criteria and allows the determination of how well the mission is communicated, interpreted, disseminated, and converted into work functions.

Mission Structure Analysis – Catalog # ADA4

This is designed to provide a quantitative analysis of the mission structure.  Through the use of set point technology, one can measure the on-going performance of the mission to a high a degree of accuracy.  It takes into consideration the mission's underlying dynamics as well as its real time performance.  The combination of these two types of on-going analyses produces an insightful view of your current operating status while simultaneously revealing underlying performance trends.

Analysis of Values – Catalog # ADA5

OAC's Vision 2000 program is an excellent tool in evaluating the effects of cultural influences on business performance.  It identifies how value is placed on systems, methods, procedures, and strategies critical to the organization's performance.  Data acquired through the program are used to identify precursors to system failures, and are useful both in stabilizing superior performance and in promoting growth of the organization.

Issue Analyses – Catalog # ADA6

These types of analyses are usually initiated as a result of an inter-organizational conflict, such as, violence in the workplace, or tension within groups or across organization segments.  They may include conducting various analyses such as; general organizational analyses; personality analyses; analyses related to function; general trouble-shooting; etc.

Root Cause Analyses – Catalog # ADA7

Unlike Issue Analyses, Root Cause Analyses are most often directed towards particular points of failure and follow a pre-described path.  Managers in technical organizations most often use this form of analysis when they have a break down in the technical system or in a major work process.

Dynamic Analysis of the Life Stages of Missions – Catalog # ADA8

This study looks at the aging process of the mission in terms of its relative position within a certain market.  By reviewing the mission in terms of market conditions, OAC is able to describe, on a theoretical basis, current conditions, and predict upcoming dynamics that affect your mission, large or small, all or individual parts of it.

Value Structure Analysis – Catalog #ADA9

This set of analyses looks at both internal and external value initiators to determine primary and secondary value structures most suitable for your mission.

Analysis of Hierarchical Structure – Catalog # ADA10

This analysis looks at the organizational strategy, staffing levels and job design to determine whether organizational impacts are affecting the performance of the mission.  It looks at expertise, power styles, mission preferences, inter-personal skills, agendas, relationships, and communication patterns.

Analysis of Work Flow – Catalog # ADA11

This analysis looks at how work flows through mission.  It is highly regarded in organizations where efficiency is an important component of success.  It is unique in that it can be used to accomplish several tasks.  First, it helps to identify check points where values are incorporated into the work process.

Work Flow Example

It is also useful in identifying weaknesses in the flow of the business like places where the process is delayed, where quality is weak, or where overall efficiency is low.  Information gained from the process can promote the integration of products and services with many intersecting components, as well as establish value standards from which future performance can be measured.  Data can be used to determine manpower requirements and to identify improvements in the process.  Finally, it can also be used to develop expertise, since regular performance critiques promote the elevation of values and a better understanding of the business process.

Analysis of Function – Catalog # ADA12

This analysis looks at the dissemination of function to determine if work associated with the mission has been properly segregated.

Macro Strategy Diagnostic – Catalog # ADA13

This tool looks at the mission's four strategy groups to determine the suitability and structure of the macro strategies used by each.  It is useful in almost any type of mission.  To conduct this diagnostic it is necessary to assess conditions as they are reflected by the behavior the organization exhibits.

Analysis of Goals and Objectives – Catalog # ADA14

This review helps to determine the degree of clarity with which goals and objective are envisioned and incorporated into business practices.

Analysis of the Products and Services Produced by the Organization – Catalog # ADA15

This effort helps management to identify and categorize products and services.  It is a fundamental step in the formation of an accomplishable business plan.

Analysis of Events - Catalog # ADA16

This effort looks for the root cause and the corrective actions needed to resolve unusual and costly events.

Special Studies – Catalog # ADA17

These include, labor studies, productivity studies in industrial and professional settings, cost studies, readiness reviews, analysis of major work strategies, and productive axis studies.  These studies are used to investigate lapses in values, to pinpoint points of failure in a particular system or strategy group, or to analyze or prepare for a particular event.

Cultural Surveys and Analyses – Catalog # ADA18

Understanding those intricate inter-personal relationships that impact the success of the mission is often the delineator between success and failure in missions large and small.  Personality assessment tools available through OAC's profiles include two fundamental types, those researched and supported by the Theory of MissionsTM and those whose bases stem from the well-established discipline of neurolinguistic programming.

Power Style Example

OAC services include:

  • Performing personality evaluations.

  • Providing training.

  • Providing assistance in the application and use of the profiles.

A Profile of Power Styles – Catalog # ADA19

A Profile of Mission Composition – Catalog # ADA20

This analysis looks at the types of missions present within the mission structure.  It provides a ranking that reflects the degree of impact and identifies each function’s type.

A Profile of Preferred Environment – Catalog # ADA21

This analysis helps managers understand the types of environments preferred by people.  It is particularly useful in diagnosing interpersonal relationships within the work place.

Environmental Preferences

A Profile of Roles Played in Relationship to a Mission – Catalog # ADA22

Personality Chart
